Point Control
Point Control maps directions to devices in your room. Point toward the lights and trigger a gesture, they toggle. Point toward the TV and tap the tile, it turns on. Point toward the fan and flick your wrist, it starts.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”Point Control divides the room around you into zones, each mapped to a device. Calibrate it from wherever you usually sit. Zones are forgiving — face the general direction and it picks the right one.
Ceiling Fan ↑ | TV ←——— 🛋️ ———→ Blinds | ↓ Floor LampEach direction from your seat maps to a device. Point, then trigger your chosen gesture or tap the tile.
Using It
Section titled “Using It”Point toward a device, then twist, double-pinch, double-tap the top section, or tap the point control tile to toggle it. You can control everything in the room without moving from where you’re sitting.
To use it with gestures, go to Settings → Watch Behavior → Interactions and set a twist direction (under Motion Gestures) to Toggle Aimed Entity. You can also assign Point Control to Double Pinch or Toggle Aimed Entity (Point Control) to Double-Tap from the same panel.

Choose a Room Sensor
You need a room sensor — a Home Assistant entity that tells HA which room you’re in (e.g.,
sensor.my_watch_ble_area). Go to Settings → Watch Behavior → Rooms in the iPhone app and pick your sensor under Detection. Full room setup is covered in Rooms.Bermuda BLE Trilateration is a good option — it tracks your Apple Watch via Bluetooth and reports which area you’re in.
-
Add Entities
In the iPhone app, go to Settings → Watch Behavior → Rooms. Under Your Rooms, expand the room you’re setting up and tap Point Control Entities, then Add Entity.
Add all the entities you want to control in that room — lights, TV, fan, blinds, whatever.
-
Start Streaming
Tap Start Streaming to begin reading live heading data from the watch.
-
Capture Headings
For each entity, physically point your wrist toward the device and tap Capture to save that direction.
Do this for every entity you added. Sit in your usual spot while calibrating.
-
Optional: Add the Point Control Tile or HUD
Add a point control tile to your page if you want a live needle and on-page target. You can also enable Point Control HUD to show the entity you’re pointing at at the top of the page.
-
Test It
Point at a device, then use a wrist gesture or tap the point control tile. If directions feel off, re-capture from your usual spot.
Point Control Settings
Section titled “Point Control Settings”Point Control settings live in a few places:
- Per-room captures — In the iPhone app under Settings → Watch Behavior → Rooms, expand a room and tap Point Control Entities, then use Start Streaming + Capture to map directions to entities.
- Point Control HUD — Shows the entity you’re pointing at at the top of the page while point control is active. Found under Settings → Developer Tools (tap Version 10 times in About to unlock).
- Tap to Toggle and Live Point Control Tile — Per-tile options. Open a Point Control tile in the editor → Confirmation tab.
